Elderly persons on the run
Normally, people are hesitant to ring up police stations even for routine purposes.
Now, people are flooding police stations with calls eager to pass on information regarding Sukumara Kurup, the first accused in the sensational Chacko murder case in 1984, after the police published his sketches seeking information about him.
As the sketches showed Sukumara Kurup spotting a beard, a few elderly look-alikes landed in trouble. It came to such a pass that elderly people growing beard were seen rushing to barber shops to have a clean look.
Meanwhile, a few persons at Thalapathur near Perambra spotted a person whom they suspected to be Sukumara Kurup.
When the police questioned the man, they found out that he knew only Kannada and Tamil.
To their relief, the police bosses told them that Kurup had fair complexion. The police released him, as the man in custody did not fit the bill.
