Elections to 17 Council seats on June 1 and 8

BANGALORE: Biennial elections to fill 17 vacancies to arise in the Legislative Council will be held in two phases on June 1 and June 8.

While elections to 11 seats in the Upper House from the Legislative Assembly will be held on June 1, those to elect six members from the Graduates' and Teachers' constituencies will be held on June 8.

The notification for the two sets of elections will be issued on May 15 and the last date for filing nominations is May 22. The scrutiny of nominations will take place the next day and that for the withdrawal of nominations is May 25.

The polling will be held, if necessary, on June 1 for the seats to be filled by the Assembly constituency and the counting of votes will take place on the same day, after 5 p.m.

The elections from the graduates' and teachers' constituencies will be held on June 8 .The counting of votes will be taken up on June 12.
