Kuerten pulls out of French Open

RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazilian tennis star Gustavo Kuerten has pulled out of the French Open at Roland Garros due to a serious hip injury that still has not healed.

The 29-year-old, a three-time French Open winner in 1997, 2000 and 2001, will miss his favourite international event for the first time in 10 years.

He said that he had had two operations on his hip, and then spent two months recovering in the U.S. — Xinhua
