HUBLI: The Hubli Police have succeeded in solving 13 cases, including a murder case, and have arrested seven persons and recovered jewellery and electronic goods worth Rs. 6.5 lakh. Addressing presspersons here, Narayan Nadamani, Police Commissioner, said the accused have confessed to committing the murder of Mohan Pawar, a resident of Basaveshwarnagar in March. He gave the names of the accused as Parashuram Subhas Morab (21) Parasya Anachari Navalgund (22), Parashuram Devadas Navalgund (22), Annappa Maruti Navalgund (21), Nagaraj (23), Nagu Hanjya Ramudu (25) and Babu (32). While the first four belong to Hubli, the other three are from Guntakal and Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh. The Commissioner said Parsya Anachari Navalgund was wanted by the Andhra Pradesh Police and was once imprisoned at Gutti jail. To escape from the Andhra Police, he come to Hubli three years ago and was operating in the area after forming his own gang, he said. Excluding the murder case, the other cases are of burglary. Mr. Nadamani said the police caught the gang members while they were planning to break into a house at Manjunathnagar on Gokul Road in Hubli.
`Neighbourhood team'
To a question, the Commissioner said the department was contemplating setting up a "neighbourhood team" on the outskirts of the city with the involvement of the residents. "The move has been successful in Bangalore and I hope to implement the same here," he said.
