JAGTIAL : The Andhra Pradesh junior inter-district basketball championship will get under way at the District Sports Authority (DSA) mini stadium here on Wednesday. Junior India campers Varun Dev and Arvind are likely to be seen in action in the four-day event, from which probables for the junior Nationals to be held at Ludhiana will be picked, according to Norman Isaac, joint secretary and treasurer, Andhra Pradesh Basketball Association. Twenty boys and a dozen girls teams are in the fray for the league-cum-knockout format tournament that continues till Saturday. Two flood-lit courts will stage 24 matches on the opening day, the formal inauguration of the championships being scheduled at 5 p.m. The winning and runner-up teams in each group will qualify for the knockout boys pre-quarterfinals and girls quarterfinals, added Isaac, who is also a FIBA referee. The groupings: Boys: A: Hyderabad, Vizianagaram, West Godavari, Srikakulam. B: Ranga Reddy, Kurnool, Chittoor, Nellore. C: East Godavari, Guntur, Krishna, Kadapa. D: Anantapur, Nizamabad, Medak, Khammam. E: Visakhapatnam, Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Karimnagar. Girls: A: Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal. B: Kurnool, Chittoor, Krishna. C: East Godavari, Guntur, Khammam. D: Anantapur, Nizamabad, Nellore. Special Correspondent
