ANANTAPUR: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Endowments J.C. Diwakar Reddy on Tuesday testified in the Junior Civil Judge Court at Tadipatri in the criminal complaint lodged by him against a private news television channel. In his testimony recorded before Judge P. Venugopala Rao the minister explained the incident that had taken place in Anantapur on March 18, in which a correspondent of the TV channel had spoken to him and a distorted version of his remarks were telecast repeatedly in the TV channel later in the day, which had continued for a few days. The Minister reportedly stated that by telecasting distorted versions of his remarks the CEO of the news channel and the channel's local correspondent had defamed him publicly. After recording the statement the Judge posted the next hearing in the libel case to May 18.
