KADAPA: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy of ruling the State as a dictator. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy should realise that power was not a permanent feature and must serve the people with dedication, Mr. Naidu remarked while reviewing the party position in Kadapa constituency. The TDP chief recalled that he was criticised for using helicopter as Chief Minister to attend important programmes. On the other hand, Dr. Reddy was making helicopter jaunts all over the State, without visiting a place the second time, fearing that the people would question non-fulfilment of promises, he alleged. Mr. Naidu charged Kadapa Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy with acting as a Congress `stooge'. He reacted strongly to partymen's complaints that some DSPs and police officers were pressuring TDP functionaries not to contest but strike a compromise with Congress contestants to ensure unanimous panchayat elections. He advised party leaders to lodge private complaints in court against such officials. Party workers also complained against Rajya Sabha member C. Ramachandraiah and former MP S. Ramamuni Reddy alleging that they were helping Congressmen ignoring TDP members. When Mr. Naidu announced constitution of a 70-member coordination committee, TDP workers opposed it alleging that it mostly consisted of persons betraying the party or hobnobbing with the Congress. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu directed Polit Bureau member K. Sivananda Reddy to revise the list and omit alleged betrayers. Mr. Naidu interacted with party workers in constituency review meetings of Kadapa, Mydukur, Badvel and Jammalamadugu. At one stage, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu admitted to not having paid due attention to party cadre while in power in his endeavour to ensure people's welfare.
