ONGOLE: A.C. Zachariah (86), who served for 53 years as a medical practitioner, died of a massive heart attack here on Tuesday. Dr. Zachariah, a Keralite, passed his MBBS examination with gold medal from Madras Medical College. He joined the Christian Missionary Hospital here, but later started private practice in 1953 and soon carved a niche for himself. As For many families, he was doctor for two or three generations. People paid rich tributes to him and recalled how he diagnosed diseases by mere physical examination in the days when diagnostic tools and tests were few and treated the patients with a humane touch. Dr. Zacharaiah is survived by wife, one son and two daughters.
