COOL DOES IT: A worker spraying water at the venue of the Chief Minister's meeting in order to moderate the temperature at Banaganapalli on Tuesday. Photo: U. Subramanyam
BANAGANAPALLI (KURNOOL DIST): The oppressive heat wave caused a hostile atmosphere to prevail at the gram sabha attended by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at Banaganapalli in Kurnool district on Tuesday. Dr Reddy also addressed a public meeting at the college ground. Those who attended the gram sabha had an agonising time with the entire premises being covered with curtains. The security restrictions forced many to occupy the place much before the arrival of the Chief Minister but only to swelter in the heat. The organisers sprayed water vapour continuously in order to mitigate the rising temperature with little success. With weather not being conducive, Dr. Reddy wound up the meeting quickly and asked the audience to join him at the public meeting.
Show of strength
The meeting was a show of strength by Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy in the wake of a changed political environment after his cousin joined the TDP last month. Addressing the public meeting, Dr.Reddy said Indiramma was the sole answer for the homeless. All families irrespective of the party affiliations would get houses. Also, the seekers of old-age pension need not look for the death of other pension-holders as the Government decided to support all the eligible.
