Mid-day meals for kids during summer vacation

M.P. Govt. decision will benefit 5.33 lakh children in Drought-hit areas

BHOPAL: School children in eight drought-hit districts of Madhya Pradesh would be given Mid-Day Meals during the summer vacation.

Giving this information, the State Minister for Public Relations, Panchayat and Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar said that more than 5.33 lakh children from 3577 villages in drought-affected districts would be benefitted by this decision. He said that eight districts in the State have been affected by drought and for providing Mid-day meals to children in these districts, 30575 quintals of wheat and 1986 quintals of rice has been received from the Government of India. He further stated that an amount of Rs. 3.25 crore would be spent on continuing the mid-day meals programme.

The Minister said that the Collectors and Chief Executive Officers of the concerning districts have been instructed to ensure proper arrangements.
