CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday assured the farmers that the entire bounded Mustard crop would be purchased by the HAFED. Talking to media persons here after the swearing-in ceremony of former Chief Secretary Meenaxi Anand Chaudhry as the State Information Commissioner, Mr.Hooda reiterated that his regime would fully safeguard the farmers' interests. Regarding the ongoing enquiry against the Chautala clan by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the basis of the "chargesheet' prepared by the Congress, Mr.Hooda said that his Government had preferred the CBI as it was the "most credible agency.'' The law was taking its own course and CBI was doing its job. Even though Om Parkash Chautala had got cases registered against his opponents because of political rivalry, the present Government did not subscribe to politics of vendetta, he asserted. Mr.Hooda said that the police were investigating the murder of Dabwali Youth Congress leader Chand Singh and the guilty would be punished. He clarified that he had not been interfering in the investigation and said that the Government was ready to refer the case to the CBI if the Indian National Lok Dal so desired. He reiterated that policing was being further improved in the State especially in the National Capital Region. The State Government has already written to the Union Home Ministry urging it to provide necessary assistance in this endeavour. The State Police was alert and its morale was high, he further asserted.
Mustard seed purchase
The Haryana Government has decided to extend the purchase of mustard seed up to May 20, an official spokesman of the HAFED said here on Tuesday. The seed would be purchased only from those farmers who had got the booking done with the concerned society. He added that the farmers should bring their produce before or up to May 20 in the mandis.
