Not so `indelible'
A. Subramani
CHENNAI:
The colourless, pungent liquid was in much demand among cadres of various parties on the day of the State Assembly elections.
Every drop of the liquid, which can completely erase the `indelible mark' applied on the fingers of voters, meant a vote to partymen willing to take the risk. Cadres said that it was of some use in two constituencies in both North and Central Chennai . They, however, conceded that this time, unlike in earlier elections when they used to be much more busy during polling hours, the electronic voting machines and voter identity cards made the job difficult.
"As a rule, we do not revisit a booth where we cast our earlier vote," said a party cadre, who was keen on making the most of the indelible-mark-erasing liquid.
