Demonstration by medicos

Staff Reporter

The protest saw the participation of senior doctors from Delhi hospitals

NEW DELHI: The Medicos' Forum for Equal Opportunities held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, condemning what it termed as upper caste propaganda against the proposed reservation policy.

The protest saw the participation of senior doctors from various Delhi hospitals. The protesters were demanding that facilities for higher education be expanded keeping in mind the increased needs of the country and that the Government provide better opportunities to all sections of people.

Speakers at the protest demonstration said in the past decade three major anti-reservation agitations have been conducted in which a section of medicos also fell prey to "upper caste chauvinism''.

"It is regrettable that medicos and other students fall prey to machinations instead of being sensitive to the needs of socially backward sections of society and build movements for securing health, education and development,'' said a protesting doctor.
