NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL filed by a BJP leader challenging a Shimla Special Court's order discharging Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and three others in `Khair wood' allotment scam case. A Bench of Justice K. G. Balakrishnan and Justice D. K. Jain dismissed the petition filed by Baldev Sharma after he failed to give a satisfactory response to the court's query about certain aspersions cast by him on the State judiciary. As the court was not inclined to entertain the other case (a special leave petition) too, petitioner Randhir Sharma, another local BJP leader, chose to withdraw the petition and the same was ``dismissed as withdrawn.''
My stand vindicated: CM
Mr. Singh said the Supreme Court's decision vindicated his stand. Commenting on the judgement, he said he had all along maintained that the case was fabricated and politically motivated to malign him and his stand had been vindicated truth had triumphed. ``Truth has prevailed and the Chief Minister has once again come out unscathed and all attempts to malign him and tarnish his fair image have been foiled'', said 10 Cabinet colleagues of the Chief Minister in a joint statement reacting to the apex court order.
