GUNTUR: The Arundelpet police on Tuesday arrested a lorry driver of Piduguralla -- B. Ravi Kumar, while he was trying to sell three `panchaloha' idols valued at Rs.5 lakhs near Seshmahal. Ravi Kumar told reporters that he had bought the three idols from a sadhu in Jeypore in Orissa while he had gone there last year to ferry some material. A resident of Piduguralla in the district, he said that he was not keeping well and so thought of selling the idols and getting himself treated when the police arrested him. The Circle Inspector of Police J. Bhaskar Rao said that the idols were of 19th Century and two of them were that of Bahubali and one of Taradevi - all related to Jain religious belief. The Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Ravindranath Babu congratulated the police personnel for the excellent work and rewarded with cash.
