Three students selected for `Know U.S. Challenge'

Coimbatore: Three students from Coimbatore colleges will compete in the `Know U.S. Challenge', a quiz programme on the United States, to be organised in Bangalore on May 20.

A release said the three were Kavitha Jain, a B.Com. student from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women; N. Mangaleshwari Manjari, a psychology student from PSG College of Arts and Science; and K. Magesh Kumar, a B.Com. student from Kongunadu Arts and Science College. Organised by the Office of Public Affairs, US Consulate General for South India in Chennai, the competition will bring together 40 undergraduate students from 36 colleges in Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. They will answer questions on American history, politics, geography, art, literature and current events.

Actor and playwright Girish Karnad will be the chief guest at the event, to be held at the American Corner at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Bangalore. The winner would get an HP laptop computer and the three runners-up would take home iPod mp3 music players.
