BANGALORE: Chip-maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) on Wednesday held its first developer conference in India with the aim of empowering developers, IT managers, techno-marketers and architects in organisations with the knowhow and tools needed to develop effective software solutions. Structured around the theme `Championing Performance', India's AMD Developer Conference (ADC 2006) provided insights into new technologies, AMD products, solutions and architecture and AMD technology directions and opportunities. At the event, AMD showcased its innovative technology to meet the needs of today's complex IT environments. Speaking at the event, Ajay Marathe, Corporate Vice-President and President, AMD India, said, "We envision the AMD Developer Conference 2006 to be a platform to empower developers, IT managers techno-marketers and architects in organisations with the knowhow and tools needed to develop effective software solutions, deploy state-of the-art infrastructure and design integrated solutions and system architectures on the AMD platform. As a result, ADC 2006 can become the melting pot of top-notch technology professionals and give them a platform to interact with hundreds of peers, discuss the challenges they face in their work, explore solutions with the experts from AMD to add value to their organisation's IT investments." "We realise India is an IT hub and that Bangalore has a large concentration of software developers, architects and IT managers," said Richard Finlayson, Director, Developer Outreach, AMD Inc. ADC 2006 is an attempt to take our proximity with this community and keep them informed about the latest information related to AMD's technologies, he said.
