Royal Sundaram's premium income up

CHENNAI: Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company Ltd. has written Rs. 461 crore of premium income during the year ended March 31, 2006, against Rs. 335 crore, a growth of 38 per cent. The company reported a profit before tax of Rs. 10 crore. The retail insurance business of the company recorded a growth of 45 per cent, achieving a gross written premium of Rs. 293 crore. Commercial insurance contributed Rs. 168 crore to the company's total premium income. Motor insurance contributed 51 per cent of the total premium, fire 20 per cent, personal accident and health five per cent and 11 per cent, respectively, engineering six per cent, and marine four per cent.
