PALAKKAD: The former Health Minister and founder of the Kerala Karshaka Thozhilali Party, B. Wellington, passed away at a private hospital in Alathur near here at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday. He was 78. His brother's son Manilal and wife were beside him when the end came. He was brought to the hospital on April 17 in a paralysed condition and had remained bed-ridden for the last four months due to cancer. The firebrand politician was Health Minister in the Government led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) veteran E.M.S. Namboodiripad from 1967 to 1969. He was elected to the Assembly from Kalpetta in 1965 and 1967 and from Palluruthy in 1970. His body was taken to his native place at Kavanad in Kollam on Wednesday evening. The cremation will take place at Holy Family Church at Kavanad on Saturday evening.
