``Celebrate 1857 anniversary''

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, L.K. Advani, has written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh suggesting that the 150th anniversary of the First War of Independence, 1857 should be commemorated in a befitting manner, perhaps jointly by India, Pakistan and Bangladesh whose people had participated in that struggle against the British rule.

Mr. Advani suggested that Dr. Singh write to the heads of Pakistan and Bangladesh Governments to explore the possibility of a ``tri-nation'' commemoration of 1857.
