PONDICHERRY: The production and sales of auto component units in Pondicherry have registered a 10 to15 percent growth in the period between October 2005 and March 2006, according to a business outlook survey conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII Southern Region). In a press release here, the CII said that with this increase, Pondicherry is all set to become the auto ancillary base of South India. The survey predicts the automotive and auto components sector to attract fresh investments and business orders from larger units in neighbouring States. In the same period, tourism has registered an increase in tourist flow and revenue of 10 to 20 per cent.
