PONDICHERRY: The fate of 217 candidates in the fray for the Assembly elections will be known by around 1 p.m. on Thursday. The District Electoral Officer G. Theva Neethi Dhas told reporters that there would be seven to nine rounds of counting and the entire process would be over by 1 p.m. The early lead would be known between 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. He said the Election Department has made elaborate arrangements to flash the news of the results. LCD projectors would be installed in 12 places to announce the results and every minute the lead of candidates would be updated. The places identified for putting LCD projectors are: Pondicherry municipality, Kamban Kalai Arangam, Mudaliarpet municipal hall, Collector's office in Saram, Media Centre at the Chief Secretariat, Deputy District Collector, Revenue South, Nettapakkam commune panchayat, Mannadipet commune panchayat, DAT office and NIC office at the Chief Secretariat, he informed. Public can also get information about the counting by accessing the website: www.pon.nic.in. The website would be updated every minute throughout.
