Itochu among 26 FDI proposals

NEW DELHI: The Central Government on Thursday cleared 26 foreign direct investment (FDI) proposals worth Rs. 282.71 crore, including the one by two Mauritius-based companies to buy 26.67 per cent stake in a Koklata based tea plantation company for Rs. 188.32 crore.

The other big proposals, cleared by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on the recommendation of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board, include Rs. 44.54 crore of FDI each by Itochu Corporation and U.K.-based Goldshield Group.

Mavi Investment Fund and Lotus Global Investments of Mauritius will buy up to 26.67 per cent equity in Assam Company for Rs. 188.32 crore.

Itochu Corporation will invest Rs. 44.54 crore to set up a subsidiary to carry on trading of items sourced from the small-scale sector. Goldshield Group Plc of U.K. will invest Rs. 44.54 crore in setting up a holding company in Goa for making downstream investments in real estate development projects. — PTI
