14 killed in two accidents

MACHILIPATNAM: Eight agricultural labourers, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed and 26 others injured in a road accident at Pendurru village under Bantumilli mandal in Krishna district on Thursday.

Labourers of Patapadu village in West Godavari district had come to Lellagaruvu village in Krishna district to make a living by fishing. The accident occurred when 36 of them were on their way to their native in a lorry, which overturned near Pendurru village around 2.30 a.m., killing seven members, including three women, on the spot.

Another labourer died while undergoing treatment.

Tragedy for marriage party

Six persons of a marriage party were killed near Kothagudem on Thursday when a bus on its way from Hyderabad to Jagadalpur, collided with a tractor. Five persons in the tractor, including the groom's mother, died on the spot. One more person died on the way to the hospital. The tractor was on its way back to Gattumalla village with about 30 persons who attended the marriage at Rampuram.

The bus passengers escaped with minor bruises.
