Corrections and Clarifications

A reader says that in the report "`Heels on Fire' — Running down the heat" (May 11, 2006), there are spelling variations of the name of the development specialist, who is on a run in Kerala. He was mentioned as Peter Duvy six times in the report, and as Peter Dulvy four times. He is Mr. Peter Dulvy who is on a 600-km run from north Kerala to Kanyakumari, and so the first sentence in the report should be: "Scaling the length of Kerala [not breadth, as published] on foot is no ordinary feat, especially in sweltering heat."

In "How genetic makeup influences behaviour" ("Science and Technology", May 4, 2006), a reader says the author has mentioned a gene related to Type II diabetes as PPRgamma2 (P12L), which is incorrect. It is PPAR-gamma2 Pro12Ala — (Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-gamma2) Pro12Ala.
