Gaganjeet Bhullar takes lead

Sports Reporter

NEW DELHI: Gaganjeet Bhullar posted a par-72 card to assume crucial lead after the penultimate round in the selection trials to pick India team for the Eisenhower Cup World amateur golf championship to be held in South Africa.

Bhullar's seventh round card of 72 took his tally to four-over 508, two strokes better than overnight leader Anirban Lahiri.

With one round remaining in the eight-round trial, Bhullar stands a good chance to make the grade.

The Indian Golf Union (IGU) will send a three-member team and a non-playing captain to the prestigious championship being hosted by two golf clubs in Cape Town.

Lahiri's good round of 68 on Wednesday, was somewhat negated by the card of 77.

Ajeetesh Sandhu and Jasjeet Singh are closely following the leaders with identical scores of 511, after shooting rounds of 74 and 72 respectively.

Gagan Verma (513) and Joseph Chakola (514) are also within striking range.
