IUML failed to read the writing on the wall: INL

KOZHIKODE: Leaders of the Indian National League (INL) have said that Muslims have rejected the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in the Assembly elections, as the party could not read the message given by voters in the Manjeri Lok Sabha Constituency in the 2004 elections. (IUML candidate was defeated in the constituency in those elections.)

Talking to presspersons here on Thursday after the maiden victory of the party in an Assembly election, Mohammed Siraj Ebrahim Sait, National Youth League president, and Sulaiman Khalid, INL general secretary, said the voters had given a `test dose' to the IUML on earlier elections for its `anti-minority stand' ranging from its positions on Babri Masjid demolition to Narendran Commission report and also the latest standoff between the U.S. and Iran on the nuclear issue. They alleged that IUML had become a party `steeped in corruption and one which ignored the common Muslim masses.' "In fact, they should delete the word Muslim from their party name and apologise to the Muslims," they said.
