Kanthapuram claims credit for LDF success

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: Sunni leader Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliar has said that his organisation's call to the Sunnis to vote for those who have helped them finally led to Sunni voters, who constitute a major chunk of "neutral" voters, to cast votes in favour of the LDF.

Talking to mediapersons on Thursday, Kanthapuram said that the main reason for the UDF's debacle was the IUML. He alleged that the Congress had "ignored" Sunnis on the behest of the IUML.

He claimed that the LDF wave was a corollary of the UDF Government's "suppression and attempts to eliminate the Sunnis".

The Congress leaders could not help the Sunnis when the IUML worked against the community.

This was because the Congress had fallen into the IUML net, he alleged.

He also said that if the IUML did not retract from its stand, the UDF had no chances of coming back to power in Kerala.
