Highighting Indian heritage in engineering

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: When you see structures such as Jantar Mantar up north and the temple of Thanjavur the shadow of which never falls on the ground and many of the old monuments of Karnataka, you realise engineering skills were not unknown to ancient Indians.

Much of this almost forgotten heritage will be revealed at a national seminar being held on Thursday and Friday at IISc.

It is being sponsored by the Union Ministry of Sciences and Technology. It is all about Bharatiya heritage in engineering and technology, and one of the sessions will be on engineering and technology in ancient Indian texts. Papers are being presented by the faculty of several Indian Institutes of Technology.
