KANNUR: Jubilant workers of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) burst crackers and took out victory processions here to celebrate the front's victory in the State Assembly elections. The LDF workers came out on the streets in different parts of the district as soon as the trends began indicating an LDF sweep in the State. The huge margins by which the LDF candidates won eight of the 10 constituencies in the district were also a cause of celebration. Crackers continued to be burst till late evening. Delighted workers gathered outside the counting centres of the constituencies here, barring Kannur and Irikkur. A large procession was held here in the evening by the LDF. A festive-like atmosphere prevailed till evening. The United Democratic Front (UDF) celebration in Kannur and Irikkur constituencies was muted in comparison to that of the LDF.
