Sangareddy: Two lovers who got married against the wishes of their parents escaped from death due to timely intervention by the Medak police here on Wednesday night. According to police, Ramulu and Padma of Janakampalli eloped and got married at Yadagirigutta on Sunday. Ramulu's father Marugula Pentaiah was against the marriage as the girl was a divorceeWhen the couple reached Ramulu's house Pentaiah asked them to leave the place. A fight between Ramulu and his two brothers turned violent. Pentaiah and his sons tied the couple to an electric pole. They poured kerosene on them allegedly with an intention to torch them alive. A villager informed the Medak police. Circle Inspector Ranjan Sunder accompanied by the Papannapet SI rushed to the spot and saved the couple. Pentaiah and his two sons fled the scene.
