MANGALORE: The online counselling for general transfers has now been in Dakshina Kannada district police.

On Tuesday, the department transferred 112 police personnel of various ranks.

Those transferred include five assistant sub-inspectors of police, 24 civil head constables and 83 civil police constables, B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, said here on Wednesday.

A specially designed software was used to facilitate the staff in selecting a police station/unit of their choice.

The entire procedure was conducted in the presence of all these policemen at the Police Guesthouse conference hall.

The policemen were seated in order of their seniority and they were given an opportunity in turns to select the station/unit.

The list of police stations/units was displayed on the screen with help of a multi media projector.

The entire process was completed in four hours. Prior to this, a proforma was circulated to all policemen, who were to be transferred this year as per Government directive.

These details were later fed into the database.

The programme has been designed in such a way that by using the database the list of places an individual can go is automatically generated based on certain predetermined parameters.

The programme provides a wide choice of police stations for the staff to select from and also streamlines the administration by ensuring that persons do not remain or stay at the same place or area for a long time.

It also helps the department in maintaining transparency, impartiality and objectivity in effecting transfers and eliminate extraneous influences.

The software has been developed by Prosoft Computers, Belgaum, under the guidance of Mr. Dayananda.
