BANGALORE: Three men attacked a businessman and robbed him of Rs. 3.50 lakh in cash in Rajajinagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 9.30 p.m. P.R. Balaji, who runs an electrical accessories manufacturing unit in Kamakshipalya, was returning home after collecting money from traders in Chickpet to whom he had supplied the products. While he was driving on 2nd Main, 4th Block, Rajajinagar, three men, who came on a motorcycle, waylaid Balaji. They threw chilly powder on his face, tore his clothes and robbed him of the cash. However, Rs. 1 lakh that was in the watch pocket of his trousers was untouched, the police said. On a complaint by Balaji, a resident of Manjunathnagar, the Rajajinagar police have registered a case.
Rape
A minor was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man at a eucalyptus grove in Hoskote police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on Wednesday. The police said that around 11 a.m. the 16-year-old girl was walking towards Venkatapura village from Shankinipura. Yarab accosted her at a secluded area, gagged her and allegedly raped her after taking her to the grove. The Hoskote police have registered a case.
Snatched
A man snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 45,000 from a housewife in Vidyaranyapura police station limits in the early hours of Thursday, the police said. The police said that around 1 a.m. the man snatched the chain from Shanthamma while she was sleeping close to the window in her house at Kalappa Layout in Doddabommasandra. The thief also made away with a mobile phone worth Rs. 5,000 that was on the windowsill. The Vidyaranyapura police have registered a case.
Stabbed
The police said that around 7.30 a.m. on Thursday, a man came to a hotel at Pantharaplaya on Mysore Road and had coffee. When he gave a Rs. 100 note to the cashier Vijay Kumar towards the bill, the cashier told him to pay the exact amount. This led to a quarrel between the customer, the cashier and the hotel owner Uday Kumar. The customer, who left the hotel, returned at 8.30 p.m. and stabbed Vijay Kumar and Uday Kumar in the abdomen with a knife. As the two collapsed, he fled, the police said.
In another incident, two people were injured after three men stabbed them at Agrahara Dasarahalli in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 11.30 p.m. Gururaj (28), a flower decorator, was returning to his Agrahara Dasarahalli house after finishing his work. On the way, he noticed that three persons were assaulting his two friends, Rajesh and Venkatesh. When Gururaj intervened, the three stabbed him and Rajesh, causing injuries. Gururaj and Rajesh are in hospital.
