dated May 13, 1956: Farmers' bank

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh, Union Minister for Agriculture, disclosed at Kakinada on May 11 that the formation of a farmers' bank for the entire country was under the active consideration of the Government and expressed his confidence that even if two rupees were collected from each agriculturist in the country the bank would have a share capital amounting to crores of rupees. The Union Minister was declaring open the Co-operative Rural Bank Ltd., at Jaggampeta. Mr. D. Sanjivayya, Andhra Minister for Co-operation, presided over the function.
