CHENNAI: Veecon-IPA Gastechnik Ltd, an Indo-German joint venture company, has entered into a fresh tie-up with Kuraray Chemical Co. Ltd. of Japan to offer an updated version of plant to produce nitrogen. Founded in 1995, the joint venture is in the business of supplying plants that produce nitrogen and other gases. Veecon-IPA is claimed to be a pioneer in introducing pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system-based generation of nitrogen in India. Typically, a PSA system helps separate nitrogen from the air. The latest arrangement with Kuraray of Japan will help Veecon-IPA bring to India nitrogen producing plants (also known as PSA) that contain next generation of carbon molecular sieves (CMS). According to Sandeep Kumar, Director (Sales), the use of superior variety of carbon molecular sieves will result in efficient production of nitrogen as it sucks in more oxygen. According to Jaswant Kumar Srivastava, Managing Director, there are a couple of other methods of producing nitrogen-cryogenic process, and by passing air through a special membrane.
