Letters to the Editor
The UDF's development agenda did not favour the common man of Kerala. The people of Vypeen island, who took to the streets demanding drinking water, were very clear that their need was not Smart City or IT hubs but plain drinking water. A vital aspect that mattered in the polls was morality in public life. While the LDF kept Neelalohithadasan Nadar away following an adverse court verdict, the UDF fielded candidates such as P. Viswanathan and Kunjalikutty who were accused of wrongdoing. Another factor that defeated the UDF was its unholy alliance with DIC (K). By voting the LDF to power, the intelligent Kerala electorate has shown that it cannot be duped by false manifestos or won over by fear or favour.
S. Rajasekhar,
The UDF failed to govern the State effectively, particularly in the last two years apparently because its priority was to sort out the feud with K. Karunakaran. The verdicts in the Lok Sabha, panchayat, and municipal elections were sure indicators.
Air Commodore (retd.) V.V. Nair,
