People have shown they are the masters: Janata Dal(S)

Special Correspondent

`Revenge against UDF for forgetting commitments'

KOZHIKODE : "People have once again shown they are the masters" is how Janata Dal (S) State president M. P. Veerendrakumar described the thumping victory of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the elections to the State Assembly.

Reacting to the election results, the Janata Dal(S) leader said the voters had once again proved they were the masters in a democracy and that the rout suffered by the United Democratic front (UDF) was people's revenge for forgetting its commitment to the voters who had given them a massive majority in the previous Assembly elections.

Mr. Veerendrakumar also expressed the view that the UDF Government had adopted anti-people postures in the pretext of initiating development programmes. He added that the Government had also tried to portray their critics as forces inimical to development.

Referring to the setback suffered by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in the elections, the Janata Dal (S) leader remarked that the voters had taught the League leadership a political lesson on the futility of trying to use money and muscle power to lord over society. The election verdict was a declaration by the voters that they could not be won over by money power, the JD(S) leader said.
