MYSORE: Karnataka Tourism Expo - 2006, beginning on Monday, is likely to provide the State Government with a roadmap to initiate programmes to help promote tourism. This prestigious conference aimed at unleashing the State's tourism potential is being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the State Government. The public-private initiative will try to identify potential growth areas in the tourism sector. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the two-day conference and Minister for Tourism B. Sriramulu will deliver the keynote address. Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will release a report titled "A growth agenda for Karnataka tourism." Panel discussions have been planned on "Investment in tourism infrastructure: formats for public-private partnership," "A growth agenda for Karnataka Tourism," "Marketing Karnataka: one State - many worlds," "Karnataka by air and road: challenge of connectivity," "Karnataka: a hub for health tourism" and "Karnataka tourism: a global perspective." Besides industry representatives, tour and travel agency representatives from countries such as France, Spain, Singapore, South Africa, Canada and the U.K. will take part in the deliberations at Karnataka Tourism Expo - 2006.
