Nurses' Day celebrated

Staff Reporter

KANNUR: Cultural programmes, sports competitions and study classes organised by nurses and nursing students in the district in connection with the Nurses' Week celebration culminated with Nurses' Day on Friday.

A public function was held here to mark the day being observed on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

Apart from nurses in various healthcare institutions here, students from nursing schools participated in the programme.

Inaugurating the function, district panchayat president K.K. Narayanan urged nurses and nursing students to renew their pledge to give personal care to patients.

The nurses should dedicate themselves to be true to the image of the nurse as a person offering immense care to the patients, he added.

District Collector K.S. Srinivas presided over the function. Kannur University Vice-Chancellor P. Chandramohan delivered the keynote address.

Earlier, cultural and sports events and other functions were held in connection with the weeklong function.
