Representatives from Russia's leading universities are participating in this exhibition and will offer counselling and spot-admissions to eligible candidates. "The degrees offered by Russian universities are recognised by the Medical Council of India and the All India Association of Indian Universities. Students will obtain an internationally valid degree at an affordable tuition fee," said Deputy Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Sergey V. Cherkas, at a press conference here on Thursday. "Besides our renowned universities which offer world-class courses including nanotechnology and nuclear power, we have some of the best medical colleges in the world. The World Health Organisation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation have rated three Russian medical universities as being among the ten best medical colleges in the world," he added. Aspiring students require a minimum of 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology to qualify for admission. The courses offered by us are broad and students can choose from a gamut of specialisations. All medical universities in Russia are State-sponsored and have the best infrastructure possible." Students from India can opt for courses in aviation technology, aerospace instrumentation and avionics as well as several more specialised courses in the subject at the Moscow Aviation Institute being represented at the exhibition by Deputy Division Head for Foreign Students Elena Baranova. Stating that the power industry was intrinsic to every society and that there had been great cooperation between India and Russia in the sphere of power and energy, Coordinator of Training Programme in English at Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Alexander Osadchiev said the Institute offers a multitude of courses including civil and mechanical engineering, radio engineering and nuclear power. The eligibility for admission to engineering courses is a minimum of 40 per cent in higher secondary examinations. The duration of the course is four years. Said Head of Marketing Department of Tomsk Polytechnic University Elena V. Milkina: "Tomsk is one of the oldest and most established universities in Russia. Founded in 1896 our university offers engineering, biochemistry, computer science, nanotechnology, economics and a host of other courses in humanities and science. Our institute offers Ph.D. courses as well." The exhibition will travel to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Madurai and Chennai before coming to Delhi's Russian Centre of Science and Culture on May 22.
