KOLLAM: Buddha Poornima will be celebrated at the Public Library Hall at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The event is being jointly organised by Sri Buddha Central School, Karunagapally, and the Sri Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor. Chairman, Sri Buddha Foundation, K. Sasikumar said that a seminar on history has also been organised in connection with the programme. Mr. Sasikumar said that the Buddhist culture had played a key role for over 1,200 years in moulding the history and tradition of Kerala. The aim of the programme is to recall some of the important influences of Buddhist culture on Kerala. Historian M.S. Jayaprakash will present a paper at the function on `Our Buddhist history and culture.' National Service Scheme programme officer, Mahatma Gandhi University, K. Sabukuttan, will present a paper on `Sri Lanka's role in Kerala's Buddhist and ayurveda tradition.'
