HYDERABAD: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) and a body of people expressing solidarity with the demand for categorising the Scheduled Castes into `A', `B', `C' and `D', has asked the Government to take steps to pilot a bill in Parliament. While MRPS was represented by State leader S. Devaiah Madiga, the others included K.R. Chowdhary, Agricultural Economist, V. Sandhya, president, Progressive Organisation for Women, and a host of others. At a press conference here on Friday, the leaders recalled the pre-poll promises made by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy that if the Congress were elected to power, he would use his good offices at the Centre to see that a bill was introduced in Parliament. The Madiga leaders regretted that without going in for categorisation, the Government was paving the way for filling vacancies in Government departments. This way, injustice was being heaped upon members of a community that was already under-privileged, they said. They said if Dr. Reddy did not do the needful, he would have to face a sustained agitation by members of the Madiga community.
