Central team assesses damage to groundnut

ANANTAPUR: A Central team visited several villages where groundnut crop was damaged due to unseasonal heavy rain in October-November last year after crop cutting experiments, due to which the farmers were denied crop insurance benefit in the district, on Friday.

The Central team comprised Director of Central Seed Development Corporation Gurumukhi and Superintending Engineer of Central Water Commission P.R. Rao. They were accompanied by District Collector Y.V. Anuradha, other officials, Anantapur MP A. Venkatarami Reddy, Singanamala legislator S. Sailajanath, DCCB Chairperson T. Kona Reddy and others on the field visit.

Detailed explanation

The team visited Chinna Jalalapuram, Kannampalli, Eguvapalli, Kalluru, Gajarampalli, Miduthuru and Vannedoddi villages in Singanamala, Garladinne, Pamidi, Pedda Vaduguru and Gooty mandals. The Central team members examined the groundnut hay and pods damaged in the heavy rain after the crop cutting experiments were conducted for the purpose of assessment of crop loss.
