Vasanthotsavam at Tiruchanur begins

HOLY SPRING FEST: Priests performing `Abhishekam' to the deity Goddess Padmavathi as part of `Vasanthotsavam' at Tiruchanur temple in Tirupati on Friday.

TIRUPATI: The annual `Vasanthotsavam' ceremony was performed at the temple of Goddess Padmavathi in Tiruchanur here on Friday.

Special rituals were observed at the beautifully-decked up `Friday Gardens' attached to the temple.

Coming as it does on a Friday, which is considered auspicious for the Goddess, the temple witnessed a heavy crowd. `Abhishekam' was performed by the priests to the deity after a rich paste of sandalwood and vermilion was applied.

Executive Officer APVN Sarma and his wife Durga Sarma took part in the festival as the head of the institution and offered prayers to the Goddess. Deputy Executive Officer of the temple, T.A.P.Narayana, also took part.
