LUCKNOW: The Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Friday demanded a CBI or judicial probe into the alleged police laxity in burying the body of BJP MLA Devki Nandan Kori's son during the recent Aligarh riots without determining his identity. As the government turned down the demand, Congress members staged a walkout even as Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey assured the House that a decision on the issue would be taken on Monday after consulting Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and leader of Opposition Lalji Tandon. The matter came up during the zero hour through an Adjournment notice moved by BJP members Hukum Singh, Devki Nandan Kori and Congress members Pramod Tewari and Vivek Bansal. Giving a detalied account of last month's communal riots, Hukum Singh questioned the role of State's Heavy Industries Minister Khwaja Halim and IG, Kanpur zone Rizwan Ahmed in the communal flare up. Hukum Singh alleged that the body of Kori's son, killed in the riots, was buried without verifying his identity to send a signal that people of a particular community had been made victims in the riots. Various identity marks on the body were ignored, Singh claimed showing the post-mortem report. Leader of Opposition Lalji Tandon and Congress members Pramod Tewari and Vivek Bansal demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Expressing concern over the incident, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan offered his condolences but rejected the demand for a CBI probe saying it was ``time consuming''. Tandon, however, suggested that the government order a judicial inquiry by any sitting judge of the High Court if it had any reservations about a CBI inquiry.
