Holiday special train

to Allahabad

NEW DELHI: To cater to the summer rush, Northern Railway on Friday announced introduction of a `Holiday Special Super-fast Train' to run between New Delhi and Allahabad.

The train will depart from Allahabad on May 14 and make the return journey from Delhi the next day. The train will stop at Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla and Kanpur stations en-route in both directions.

Harmony awards

to be presented

NEW DELHI: Organisation of Understanding and Fraternity, a non-government organisation run by Dalmia Sewa Trust, is organising the Ramkrishna Jaidayal Harmony Awards 2004 and 2005 function at Andhra Pradesh Bhawan here on May 15. Special children will present a thematic welcome dance under the guidance of danseuse Shovana Narayan. Later, there will be an instrumental rendering of `Sare Jahaan Se Achha' by the children. Each year, the awards are conferred on luminaries to recognise their contribution in the fields of science, art, literature, education, commerce, industry, agriculture, social welfare and related services.

Drive against misuse

of LPG cylinders

NEW DELHI: Indian Oil Corporation Limited has launched a campaign in the Capital to raid those premises where domestic LPG cylinders are being misused for commercial purposes and being transferred into the small capacity unauthorised cylinders.

Both these acts were the main causes for the increasing number of LPG related accidents, it said. During the drive conducted in Shakarpur police station area, about 30 commercial establishments were raided in which 33 domestic LPG cylinders of various companies and seven unauthorised small capacity unauthorised cylinders were seized. Expressing its commitment to prevent such misuse, IOC said it would continue with such raids in other parts of the city.

Self-discovery week

for students

NEW DELHI: To mark the beginning of its new academic year, The Indian School organised an innovative self-discovery and literary week for its students. Keki Daruwala, Sheila Thadani and Niladri Paul were among the writers and artists who shared their experiences and helped students discover their innate talents. Along with creative writing and painting self-portraits, students were also trained in clay art form.

Bharatnatyam performance

NEW DELHI: A Bharathanatyam performance was presented by Yatin Agarwal at Thiruvalluvar Kalai Arangam of Delhi Tamil Sangam here on Thursday. Yatin, a disciple of Bharathanatyam dancer Anita Guha, has won several accolades and scholarships for his talent.
