Sea version of Lakshya tested successfully
Berhampur (Orissa):
The sea version of the pilotless target aircraft Lakshya was successfully tested over the Bay of Bengal from a range at Gopalpur near here on Friday.
The Lakshya was launched at 9.33 a.m. by the target support unit of the Army Air Defence College.
This was the second test of the aircraft from the range.
It was earlier flown on May 10, a defence release said.
Lakshya, indigenously developed by the Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), flew for 35 minutes. It is used as a target for firing by air defence weapon systems.
Support for launch
Lt. Gen. K.S. Dogra, Director-General of Army Air Defence, witnessed the test. A team of scientists from ADE, Indian Air Force and the Navy supported the launch and recovery of the Lakshya, the release said. PTI
