Ranganath to be new Vice-Chancellor?
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
As widely speculated, the State Government has recommended the name of R.A. Ranganath, currently attached to the Mysore University's Zoology Department, to the post of Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor.
Although an official announcement will be made by the Governor's office, sources confirmed Prof. Ranganath as the Government's choice from a list of three names forwarded by the Search Committee.
The much-delayed announcement of the new Vice-Chancellor is expected to bring the Bangalore University into some sort of order. With only an acting Vice-Chancellor, the university had gone down a spiral, getting caught in an ugly spat between Dalit students and some professors of the English Department.
Although administratively inexperienced, Dean of Education Faculty B.G. Sudha was named acting Vice-Chancellor, after the retirement of M.S. Thimmappa.
