BANGALORE: Lokayukta N. Venkatachala has asked all the District Superintendents of Police (Lokayukta) to regularly visit all taluks and redress public grievances. Mr. Venkatachala said this at the meeting of all the 18 SPs, conducted in the conference hall of the Lokayukta office on Friday. The meeting was held to review the work being done in the districts. Additional Director General of Police, Lokayukta, Lal Gokama Pachauau, participated in the meeting. It was a few months ago that Mr. Venkatachala asked all the Superintendents to visit the taluks coming under their jurisdiction every month. During these visits, the Superintendents were asked to meet people in Inspection Bungalows and redress their grievances. If the grievances were of the nature that needed to be tried by Lokayukta or Upalokayukta, then they had to referred to the respective offices.
`Good response'
Mr. Venkatachala told The Hindu that this had elicited good response with people coming with more complaints. Though many of the SPs were visiting all the taluks every month, some were finding it difficult to do so. "I have asked all the SPs to maintain a register stating the number of complaints received and those which have been redressed in each taluk. I have also asked them to send a list with these details to me," he said.
