Two alleged cheats arrested
According to the police, Rakesh Bhatura, a resident of Panchsheel Park in Malviya Nagar, had placed an advertisement for sale of his car on April 23. One of the callers introduced him as Yogesh from Defence Colony. He came to his residence and settled the deal at Rs. 2.15 lakhs. However, he said he wanted to consult his father and one of his friends before going through with the deal. The man then claimed that the battery in his mobile phone was low and borrowed the phone of Mr. Bhatura's son. While talking on some number he sneaked out of the house and disappeared.
One held for double murder
According to the police, the bodies of Akhtar Afindi (52) and Jamshed Alam (35) were discovered when one Qasim called up the police on Wednesday saying Akhtar was missing since May 8. The police reached Akhtar's house at F-block in Shahin Bagh. The main door was open but the bathroom and the kitchen, from which foul smell was emanating, were locked. The police then broke open the kitchen and bathroom doors. Qasim also told the police that on the night of May 8 he was going to meet Akhtar when he bumped into Mohammad Wasim, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave. Wasim told him that Akhtar had gone to sleep after which both returned to their homes. The police then mounted surveillance on Wasim's house and arrested him on Thursday evening. During interrogation, Wasim allegedly confessed to having killed Akhtar and Jamshed.
